The shape of the daggerboard converts the forward motion into a windward lift, countering the leeward push of the sail.
Many sailboats use a daggerboard instead of a fixed keel. This allows these boats to be more easily moved on trailers, sailed in shallow waters, and easily beached. Daggerboards also afford an opportunity to reduce drag when racing because they can be retracted when not needed.

I love these wooden sunglasses! I wasn't even aware you could make sunglasses from wood, but they are awesome. Fits snug on my large head, which is rare for me, but not too tight. I get tons of people asking about them and I am happy to share the fact that I am helping save turtles! Good on ya.
Got these cause they had a neat sleek look. I am impressed by the craftsmanship of the woodwork on the frames. These are not made of bamboo and they do not float, but that's ok. They have a beautiful looking wood grain and I have another pair of Blue Turts that I use on my boat and love them too.
Typically, I have a hard time finding sunnys that don't look too small on my face. These fit great and hold onto my head perfectly. This company has a cool cause so I was happy to support it.
